A Safari Journey Through Africa's Bush

Where should I even start?!

Finally, the day had arrived we are on our way to Sabi Sands nationalpark, my first Safari in my life.Thousands of thoughts are coming up….Am I dreaming or is this really happening?

As the plane descended towards our destination, excitement coursed through my veins, reaching heights I had never experienced before. After years of dreaming and planning, the moment had finally arrived – I was about to set foot in Africa's bush, ready to immerse myself in its unparalleled beauty.

As the landscape unfolded beneath us, a breathtaking sight greeted us: the special expanse of the African savannah stretched out before us, full of life and wonders. And there, in the distance, was the first glimpse of wildlife – a herd of buffalo running south.

In that moment, a whirlwind of emotions washed over me –  I felt so much gratitude.

It was surreal to think that we were about to embark, one of the planet's greatest wonders and beauties – the African bush.

The moment we touched down on African soil, I knew that this journey would be unforgettable and special in every way, an exploration of the wild and untamed spirit that resides within us all.

As I stepped out of the plane, the air was alive with the chorus of birdsong, the air carries a scent of earthy aromas, tinged with hints of wildflowers.

My grandmother, who loved her travels to Africa with my grandpa, told me, that the moment of stepping out of the plane and inhaling a deep breath , she always knew she’s on African soil.

What a welcome! - Arrival

We enjoyed the warmest welcome we could have ever wished for…  Our two Rangers picked us up and helped us with our luggage. Usually traveling light isn’t a thing in my family, but since were on safari we were forced to have little luggage and we made it!!

Upon our arrival at our lodge, the enchanting Sabi Sands Tinga River Lodge,, we were graciously greeted with refreshing towels and delightful welcome drinks.

Our caring butler Edmond, who really became a great friend of us, during our stay, warmly welcomed us and took amazingly care of every detail from the very first moment we stepped foot into the lodge.

The view was incredible, we had a direct view on the fantastic river.. and believe it or not we saw a a hippo, one buffalo and one crocodile within the first 5 minutes.

I felt incredible gratitude for experiencing this with my family….

Lodge

Our wonderful lodge,,Lion Sands Tinga Lodge,,was absolutely stunning and beyond any expectations or imaginations.

With just eight rooms and less than 20 guests including us, so it couldn’t be more private and quite place to enjoy the beauty of Africa and they looked after us in every need.

The location of the lodge is very special, its directly located at the river, where you can enjoy breathtaking views and observe Africas wildlife from the terrace. The lobby offers as a front-row view as well…

They also have a cute little shop where you can buy handcrafted items, which are a little piece of art. And not to forget the Staff is more than caring and always happy to assist, we learned some African sayings from our great Buttler Edmond.

Luxurious Accommodation - Where every detail counts..

Our Room surpassed all expectations, truly out of this world. Stepping inside, I didn’t knew what to say.

The attention to details were beyond imagination.With a beautiful living area and a cute board where we received lovely messages from our butler, each wishing us an incredible game drive and a outstanding experience, which we had more than that at all times. It was a gesture I cherished and enjoyed every time I was happy to read one…

The view was straight out  of a movie - surrounded by lush greenery and the tranquil river, it felt like paradise. Our spacious and cozy bed had our names crafted with plants, a wonderful surprise.

And the bathroom, an oasis itself, offered the most breathtaking views of the river, while had amazing showers.Last but not least we had a gigantic terrace, where we had little and bigger visitors during daytime and in the night.

One night we heard a lion… to be honest I got up and checked twice if the terrace door was completely  looked.

Can`t believe that my dream came true.. we meet the big 5 and all the other beyond beautiful animals..

Embarking on my very first game drive was a journey into the unknown, a thrilling and unforgettable adventure.

As the safari vehicle ventures forth, each bump in the road and turn of the path becomes a gateway to explore the wonders that lie beyond.

Rare Beauty

Seeing these amazing animals in their own environment has been the craziest experience ever.

With every passing moment, I found myself drowned deeper into the rhythm of the bush, each encounter with wildlife a testament to the raw beauty and majesty of the natural world.

Whether it was the awe-inspiring sight of a herd of elephants lumbering across the plains or the graceful silhouette of a leopard perched high in a tree , each left a unforgettable moment upon my memory.

This experience is truly unforgettable in soo many ways the light, the air, the colours, the sunrise and sunset, the smell… everything sooo different and extraordinary!!

Most amazing sunsets over Africa

It was as If the animals welcomed us into their world, coming within arms reach at times, their presence it send my heart racing with excitement.My heart went crazy.. when the animals came so close that I could have touched them or looked directly deep into my eyes.. WOW WOW wow!!just mind blowing and such a special gift!

Lions, lepards, elephants,buffalos, rhinos, zebras… in their natural element was a dream come true.

It is an experience that must be felt to be truly understood, a journey that leaves an incredible mark upon the soul.

Into the Heart of the Wilderness - A Day on Safari

Every Morning we had a wake up call at 5:30,but won’t regret waking up early in paradise before the sun is rising. We enjoyed the most spectacular sunrises  over Africa we could have ever wished for and seeing how the animals are slowly starting into their day … is more than  unforgettable !!

Before setting out on our morning game drive at 6 o’clock, a serene moment awaits, allowing time to savor the warmth of freshly brewed tea or coffee. With hearts racing because of excitement and happiness, we embark on our private safari, guided by the expertise of our amazing ranger and tracker, leading us through outstanding landscapes in pursuit of elusive wildlife.

Each moment had had been a irreplaceable treasure for us, etched forever in memory.

Good Morning Simba

Returning at 9 o’clock, a amazing breakfast awaits on the terrace, overlooking the tranquil river where buffalo, hippos and crocodiles gracefully converge, adding to the serenity of the moment.

During the day, until the afternoon drive at 4 clock, we were enjoying the views while reading a book, playing games and having inspiring conversations or just relaxing and embracing this adventure.

They also offer great relaxing massages, which my mum and I were enjoying once before our afternoon game drive.

Optional you could sign up for a guided walking safari, I didn’t knew what I should thought about the idea of meeting lions while walking around in the middle of bush..

At 4 o’clock, you could have some fresh fruits and coffee and tea, before heading out to the afternoon and evening safari.

From mesmerizing hunts to the ethereal beauty of setting sun, every encounter made us absolutely speechless.

Am I dreaming ? - Making lifetime memories

One night we followed a lion track and we got a big suprise, around 10 lions where walking and lying around and they were trying to search for their next hunt.

They were incredibly close, when I wanted I could have touched their fur…. I could hardly believe my eyes and my heart beat went crazy. I never would have imagined experiencing this in my wildest dreams.

We were beyond lucky, we stayed with them for almost and hour and we had the most epic sunset in the back. This will stay in my memories for ever and ever…something we will never ever  forget.

What a special moment!!

Nightfall brings a different magic, as the sky dresses in its starry night attire, Under the vast African sky, we learn about the stars and their ancient stories, finding guiadnace in their age-old paths.It was one of the most romatic sceneries I could think of, sitting in the open Jeep in the middle  of Africas untouched bush, surrounded by the wilderness and the big 5 was like Beeing in a movie.

When we came back to our amazing lodge, we received warm refreshment towels and had a lovely dinner at the river with great conversations.

Since we are lucky to start into a adventurous day quite early in the next morning, we didn’t stayed up very late into the night.. As soon as It got dark, we were only allowed to walk around the lodge with a ranger, since we were in the middle of the African bush and meeting a lion in front of your house isn’t a rarity.

Before falling asleep I always journaled, and I wrote and wrote….  Since we experienced soo many lifetime moments and felt soo many emotions, it was hard to me to write everything down on paper.
