Sardinia Guide
Sardegna Uncovered: Your Path to Mediterranean Sea Side
I always love our summer vacation to the Costa Smeralda in Sardegna. After the last years I got to know the most prettiest places around. Since a few summers, Sardegna belongs to my list of happy places. I mostly enjoy the beautiful coastline with their white sandy beaches and the turquoise clear water. Absolutely paradise on earth!!
In this guide, i invite you to join me on an exploration of Sardinia's hidden corners and the places to be.
Lets follow me along…
Romazzino Bay
One of my favorites, because the water is extremely clear and great for everyone who enjoys snorkeling. Additionally the beach is lovely and not to crowded, even during feragosto in the high season. The famous Hotel Romazzino is even located there, where they have a water school on the pier. For everyone who loves watersports and the thrill of the waves and the exhilaration of adventure, its your chance toe choose one of their huge selection of different watersport activities.
Porto Raffael
Its definitely one of the cutest port, I have seen so far in my life. Why the name is Porto Raffael, was even not so clear to me, after my first visit, because its way to small, to be a real port. One of the great aspects about this lovely place is that its still really a hidden gem.Everywhere you look, there are beautiful flowers. It has a fabulous little piazza, where you can sit and enjoy an Italian espresso or my recommendation is to have an Aperitivo while the sun is setting down. This scenery is made for the books!! There are a handfull of shops, where they offer beautiful swimsuits and handmade crafts. Its absolutely worth a visit.
Bella Italia
Beautiful pizza of Porto Raffael
Tavolara
For this beautiful little island you need to go by boat.Already the way there is fantastic. The shape if the island is very impressive and you are gonna love the view.Hold your cameras ready !!The last two times, we were extremely lucky, because we saw dolphins swimming next to us.My brother was even this brave to jump in and had a few unforgettable seconds with them, what a lifetime experience.
Porto Rotondo
That definitely belongs to my favorites, we go there every year for walking threw this beautiful port, where they sell amazing things in Italian boutiques. Its just a short boat drive from Porto Cervo or a 30minutes car drive…and its so much worth the visit. I guarantee, you are gonna love this place. It really brings out this authentic Dolce vita feeling.
San Theodoro
You can get there by car or boat, but it takes an hour to go there.Thats why I would rather take the boat then the car, because you drive down the coast and enjoy the beautiful bays until you get to this unbelievable place. The Cristal clear water is great for swimming and snorkeling, which you normally just find on the Maldives or in the Caribbean.Children have also a lots of fun, because they can enjoy playing at the beach with their toys. San Theodoro is the most beautiful beach around the Costa Smeralda, in my opinion.
Cala di Volpe
Its one of the most iconic places at the Costa Smeralda, or even the place to have a drink in the evening. For all action movie lovers, when you like to watch James Bond, one of the old ones got filmed there. They have the best Bellini there, made out of fresh peaches.I most tell you that the prices are very intense. In the high season, the minimum spend per person is around 70 euros. When you have the chance, go there once for sunset, that you just seen it and you will enjoy a great evening. The Matsuhisa restaurant is located in the Cala di Volpe, were they serve their signature asian dishes.
Stella Maris Church
On Sundays we love to go to church in Sardegna, especially because of the amazing atmosphere this church haves. You can also enjoy the beautiful view of Porto Cervos port and the Yacht Club.
San Pantaleo
It also plays an important role in our summer, it part of all the traditions, we do every year.San Pantaleo is a very cute little town in the mountains, where they have amazing shops, which you don’t find in Germany.Everything is very handmade and special. My favorite store is called ,,Foresta g,, they offer beautiful prints out of amazing fabriques from India.I love my shirts from there, because they have special & funny prints, like dancing monkeys or lions and elephants…. They also offer our favorite espadrilles made out of velvet, in all colors you can dream of. After the shopping marathon, we love to energize ourself with a freshly squeezed orange juice on the piazza, with a breath taking view on the mountains.
Market
We also love waking up super early once a week, during vacation, but only for the market :-) Only a small group of woman is going, the rest is still sleeping and don’t want to be part of the market madness….It can be very crowded, but the secret is, the earlier you go, the better it is, also in terms of the heat. You gonna call me crazy now, because Iam standing there every year trying on a bunch of cashmere sweaters at 30 degrees in the sun. Iam a bad decision maker, that makes the whole situation even more complicated. They offer good prices and you can even start a discussion with them, to go lower in the price. You gonna love me when the winter is coming along and you’re wearing a cozy sweater, which you didn’t payed a crazy price for it.
Porto Cervo
There is the more pricy side of shopping, where you find Dior, Hermes and Prada…But although its beautiful to have a look and even when you don’t want to buy something. For the boat lovers, there are many extremely big boats, which you can have a look from the pier.In the evening there are a few famous restaurants like Il Pescatore, amazing for fresh fish or a great place for sushi is Novikov.
Phi Beach
One of the best places to watch the sunset is Phi Beach. Its accessible by car or boat. Its a huge recommendation to go there once at least. When the sun is setting over the ocean in this amazing scenery full of rocks, then its definitely gonna be an evening for your memories. In the background they play great music, where you immediately want to dance the night away.
Dancing under the stars….
