City of Canals: 24 hours in Venice

This year we went back from Sardinia by ferry to make a stop in beautiful Venice.I have been there a few times already and I fall in love with this city over and over again.

Its not so easy to find someone, who haven’t been to Venice yet, but let me explain you, why you should definitely put it on your travel bucket list, when you haven’t been there yet.

Stay

There are coming millions of tourists every year, therefore it can be very crowded, but in which bigger city you can avoid this ? During the pandemic in spring 2020 we were very lucky to come to Venice, where it was empty, like a ghost town, everything was closed and there were no tourists there except us. It was a unique experience and a different perspective to see Venice without the tourism.

This time we stayed at The Grittis Palace, they have made our stay unforgettable..

Everything had been a 10 out of 10 !! Lets start with the location, which is amazing, because its directly at the Canale Grande. How could it be better ?

Above all its stunning beautiful; classic interior and excellent service !!

Things to do…

Head to piazza San Marco (Marcus Square) an icon for Venice, so when you haven’t been there you weren’t in Venice…. If the line isn't too long, consider visiting the basilica's interior to see its mesmerizing mosaics.Explore the nearby Doge's Palace, a symbol of Venice's political and cultural history. Afterwards cross the Bridge of Sighs and wander through the opulent chambers and prison cells. Admire the iconic Rialto Bridge, which offers the perfect picture scenery on the Grand Canal. Capture some memorable photos here !

On the next day we experienced Venice from the water by taking a gondola ride through the enchanting canals. It was a very fun and wet ride, since it was very hot, we dumped water on each other's heads.

And watch your heads, no fun, the first 2 bridges the drivers point out , then no longer and Venice is not known for nothing as the city of many bridges…

Dine

Harry`s Bar

We had lunch at Harrys Bar, but in my opinion its not worth it the hype and way to overpriced, for what you get and the location isn’t the best on warm&sunny day, because they can only seat you inside.

The Grittis Terrace

In the evening we enjoyed the beautiful view on the Canale grande, while having an amazing tasting dinner. This evening was unforgettable; great conversations, quality time, amazing view and dinner under the stars at the canal.
